A Hidden Gem

For Chicago Theatre Company, there's no such thing as escapist entertainment. They've gained audiences and accolades through their unflinching portrayals of real life's toughest issues.

Tucked away on Chicago's South Side, the Chicago Theatre Company has been putting on new and challenging plays for more than two decades.

The company's adventurousness has paid off many times. The CTC has received a handful of Joseph Jefferson Awards and more than a dozen Black Theatre Alliance Awards. And audiences like it, too, flocking to this small theatre hidden in the basement of the Parwkay Community House in the city's Woodlawn neighborhood.
