All That Jazz
Jazz dance is one of the most popular forms of dance in the world, renowned for its sensual flow and powerful moves. Thank
Gus Giordano for that.
Since setting up his famous
dance center in Evanston in 1953, the dance innovator has not only popularized various forms of jazz dance, he's also made sure it's taken
seriously.
Giordano launched the first
Jazz Dance World Congress out of his studio in 1990 as a place for practitioners to meet and to perfect their art. In just a decade it had traveled
to Japan and Germany, attracting eager dancers and audiences from the world over.
In 2005, the conference returned to Chicago, packing Millennium Park's Harris Theater.
