Fine Twine

Ann Coddington Rast takes the prehistoric craft of twining and gives it a modern twist.

Her contemporary sculptures, made with a 20,000-year-old basketry technique, have an almost timeless feel that enhances their delicate shapes. Many of her sculptures embody personal metaphors that may be hard to unravel, but which provide the viewer with layers of meaning.

Since receiving her Master in Fine Arts from the University of Illinois in 1993, Rast has gone on to display her work across the country while teaching sculpture in Illinois colleges.
