Songs of the Ranch and Range

Led by the enchanting vocals of award-winning singer-songwriter Wil Maring, the Southern Illinois band Shady Mix pays tribute to forgotten tunes.

Maring bridges the gap between bluegrass, folk and country with her original songs and a little bit of help from band mates Robert Bowlin and Mark Stoffel. Bowlin, a fiddle player with the father of bluegrass, Bill Monroe, joined Shady Mix after the band returned from almost ten years performing in Stoffel's native Germany.

In 1997, Maring released her first solo album, "An Ocean From Home," which received by excellent reviews throughout the acoustic music scene. A second album, "The Turning of a Century," followed in 2002. When not busy with Shady Mix or touring out on her own, Maring spends her free time "messing around" with the clawhammer banjo, upright bass and her horses.
