2-for-1 Tickets to Lefties

The Saint Sebastian Players present the world premiere of the drama Lefties by Chicago-area playwright Leigh Johnson. In Lefties, a Russian born father, an avowed Communist who loves baseball, clashes with his son, a gifted semi-professional pitcher who has become entranced by capitalism and its prospects. Set in McCarthy-era America, this play is about family pride, fathers and sons and the damage done by the secrets we keep from each other.

Lefties runs February 15 through March 10 on Fridays and Saturdays at 8:00 pm, and Sundays at 2:00 pm, at St. Bonaventure, 1625 W. Diversey (enter on Marshfield) in Chicago. Full-price tickets are $15.

2-for-1 Tickets to Pacifica Quartet

The Music Institute of Chicago presents the internationally acclaimed Pacifica Quartet. The program features Smetana’s String Quartet No. 1 in E Minor “From My Life” and Beethoven’s String Quartet No. 15 in A Minor, Op. 132.

Recognized for its virtuosity, exuberant performance style, and often-daring repertoire choices, the Pacifica Quartet has gained international stature as one of the finest chamber ensembles performing today. Named quartet-in-residence at Indiana University's Jacobs School of Music in March 2012 and Ensemble of the Year by Musical America, Pacifica received the 2009 Grammy Award for Best Chamber Music Performance.

Pacifica Quartet performs on Saturday, February 16 at 7:30 pm at Nichols Concert Hall, 1490 Chicago Avenue in Evanston. Tickets are $30; WTTW members may purchase one ticket at full price and get a second ticket free, subject to availability.
