WTTW, Chicago’s premier public television station, announced today that Check, Please!, its highest-rated local program, will launch PLANit Check, Please!, a new weekly e-mail and online calendar. PLANit Check, Please! is a hand-picked round-up of the hottest food-related happenings around town. The inaugural issue of PLANit Check, Please! goes out today, and it’s easy to subscribe here.

Over the past 12 seasons, Check, Please! and its continually rotating trio of “regular person” restaurant reviewers have exposed Chicagoans to more than 430 local eateries across a wide span of neighborhoods, cuisines, ethnicities, and price points – encouraging viewers to experience all that the Chicago area’s vibrant and diverse dining scene has to offer. Each week, the lively PLANit Check, Please! will extend the experience to offer a carefully curated list of upcoming restaurant events and tastings, cooking classes, chef demos, themed dinners, street and food festivals, and more – all conveniently delivered to subscribers’ email inboxes.

PLANit Check, Please! will also include a link to a comprehensive online calendar of the curated events, so that local foodies and fans of Check, Please! never miss a chance to indulge their passion for food, drinks, and fun.

"Chicagoans crave experiential dining, but the number of choices are overwhelming," said David Manilow, creator and executive producer of Check, Please! "PLANit Check, Please! brings diners the best of the hundreds of food related happenings all in one place," he added.

Check, Please! is currently in the process of selecting a new host, after a highly visible online application process that garnered more than 1,000 entries and more than 12,000 votes for the “Round of 17” semi-finalists. The last round of finalists will be featured on a May 17 special, with the winner announced shortly thereafter. The 13th season premieres in October.
