WTTW’s Public Television Music Series SOUNDSTAGE to tape a new installment in WTTW’s Grainger Studio featuring Singer-Songwriter JASON ISBELL

WTTW Chicago and the international music company BMG announced the next artist to be featured on the acclaimed public television music series SOUNDSTAGE -- singer-songwriter and guitarist JASON ISBELL. An exclusive concert by Isbell and his band, the 400 Unit, will be captured before a live audience of 450 fans in Grainger Studio’s intimate setting at WTTW on Wednesday, October 7 at 8:00 pm.

A native of Green Hill, Alabama, Jason Isbell released his fifth album, Something More Than Free in July. Isbell has toured extensively with his band, The 400 Unit, and cites his musical influences as Bob Dylan and Neil Young. His critically acclaimed album Southeastern led to a clean sweep of the 2014 Americana Music Awards for Isbell with Album of the Year, while Isbell was named Artist of the Year, and his song "Cover Me Up" was named Song of the Year. Isbell has appeared on Austin City Limits and was recently profiled on CBS News Sunday Morning.

In this new episode of SOUNDSTAGE, which will air on public television stations nationwide (check local listings), Isbell and his band will perform material from his new album and other songs from throughout the singer’s successful career.

SOUNDSTAGE is produced by WTTW Chicago, produced and directed by Joe Thomas and produced by Kim Mattes. The series will return to public television stations nationwide in winter/spring 2015-2016 (check local listings) with more artists to be announced.
