Chicago, IL - November 16, 2016

WTTW, one of the Midwest’s premier public media organizations, announced today that its flagship nightly newsmagazine CHICAGO TONIGHT has named journalist AMANDA VINICKY to the roster of fulltime news correspondents for its nightly show and website, wttw.com/chicagotonight. Vinicky will cover, among other things, state government, the Governor and the Illinois General Assembly.

Vinicky serves as Statehouse Bureau Chief for Illinois Public Radio/WUIS in Springfield, where she is a capitol correspondent for a network of public radio stations throughout Illinois. She has also hosted WSEC-TV’s Capitol View as a rotating facilitator for a weekly tape-to-air journalists’ roundtable. Since March 2015, Vinicky has been a contributor to CHICAGO TONIGHT, providing political coverage from Springfield. In 2016, she was named to the Springfield Business Journal’s prestigious Forty Under 40 list.

“Unbiased political coverage has been integral to the mission of CHICAGO TONIGHT since its inception more than 30 years ago,” said Mary Field, the program’s executive producer. “Amanda’s stellar reporting and her experience covering the statehouse has helped our audiences make sense of the political impasse in Springfield and the enormous challenges facing the state. We are delighted to welcome her to our team on a full-time basis.”

"It's been an honor to be part of the WTTW's commitment to public affairs journalism from the statehouse," said Vinicky. "I'm thrilled to join the team, and to begin digging into the many issues confronting the city and state with the tenacity, curiosity, and creativity Chicago Tonight's audience deserves."

Vinicky’s first day as a full-time correspondent will be January 3, 2017.
