In partnership with the Union League Club Authors Group, WTTW|WFMT invites its members to a special luncheon featuring acclaimed filmmaker Ken Burns.

Burns will speak about and present a preview clip of The Roosevelts: An Intimate History, which will premiere on WTTW on September 14. The series chronicles the lives of Theodore, Franklin, and Eleanor Roosevelt, three members of the most prominent and influential family in American politics. It is the first time in a major documentary television series that their individual stories have been interwoven into a single narrative.

The documentary encompasses the history the Roosevelts helped to shape: the creation of National Parks, the digging of the Panama Canal, the passage of innovative New Deal programs, the defeat of Hitler, and the postwar struggles for civil rights at home and human rights abroad. It is also an intimate human story about love, betrayal, family loyalty, personal courage, and the conquest of fear.

The cost of the event is $50 per reservation and includes lunch and the presentation. An excerpt from the documentary will be previewed during the program. Copies of The Roosevelts companion book will be available for purchase and autographing. Valet and self-parking are available. Business attire is required.
