The Robert R. McCormick Foundation and WTTW invite you to attend the first McCormick Community Screening, Academy Award nominee, Last Days in Vietnam which will premiere on WTTW11 on Tuesday, April 28 at 8:00 pm.

At this free event, attendees will watch the full two-hour film that explores the events in April of 1975, when the North Vietnamese Army was closing in on Saigon as South Vietnamese resistance was crumbling. Approximately 5,000 Americans remained with roughly 24 hours to get out. The South Vietnamese faced certain imprisonment and possible death if they remained behind, yet there was no official evacuation plan in place. With the clock ticking and the city under fire, 135,000 South Vietnamese managed to escape with help from a number of heroic Americans who took matters into their own hands, engaging in unsanctioned and often makeshift operations to save as many people as possible.

To RSVP, please call (630) 260-8162. If no one is available to take your call, please leave your name, phone number, and email address and you will be contacted to confirm your reservation.

The McCormick Community Screenings are brought to you by the Robert R. McCormick Foundation.
