As part of Hispanic Heritage Month, WTTW invites you to attend a FREE screening of the documentary film, On Two Fronts: Latinos & Vietnam

On Two Fronts explores the rich history of Latino service in the Vietnam War, and invites all Americans to honor the contributions and sacrifices made by Latino soldiers and their families in a war that defined a generation. Examining the Latino experience during a war that placed its heaviest burden on working class youth, this film raises issues that remain relevant today. In communities where there were few alternatives to service, war impacted every household — especially amongst Latinos. How did this affect the young men who served on the front lines? How did it impact their communities?

Following the film, we will celebrate Chicago area veterans with a panel discussion, moderated by Chicago Tonight correspondent, Eddie Arruza, photo display, and light reception. Attendees are encouraged to bring items to donate for care packages which will be shipped to active duty service members.

Most-needed items include: AA alkaline batteries, Beef jerky/Slim Jims, Books, magazines, crossword puzzles, prepaid phone cards, travel size personal hygiene items, razors and shaving cream, hard candy, platic baggies, unscented wipes, sunflower seeds and mixed nuts, powdered drink mixes, and chewing gum.

On Two Fronts: Latinos & Vietnam will premiere on WTTW11 on Tuesday, September 22 at 10:00 pm.
