WTTW Community Cinema, in partnership with the Department of Cultural Affairs and Special Events, presents an Indie Lens Pop-Up screening and discussion of the documentary film, Stray Dog. From Oscar-nominated director Debra Granik, comes this portrait of a motorcycle-riding Vietnam veteran.  There’s much more to Ronnie, a.k.a. “Stray Dog,” than meets the eye. Stray Dog grapples with haunting memories of the Vietnam war while bonding with his fellow biker brothers on their yearly trek to the Vietnam Memorial in Washington DC. At home, he navigates a daily balancing act of his commitment between his wife, family, neighbors, fellow bikers and veterans. Behind the tattoos and leather vest is a men dedicated to helping his fellow vets and immigrant family as he also comes to terms with his military combat experience.

Following this free film screening, there will be a panel discussion with representatives from veteran support organizations. The audience will be invited to share their questions and comments.

Stray Dog will premiere on WTTW 11 as part of the Independent Lens series on Monday, November 9th at 10 pm.
