In a city like Chicago, where our built environment boasts more than a century and a half of architectural significance, the ability to protect, preserve, and restore our civic landmarks is critical.

No one has shown more passion in this area than Chicago architect Gunny Harboe, whose award-winning work has helped to restore and preserve Chicago Loop treasures including the Rookery, the Reliance Building, the Marquette Building, the Sullivan Center (formerly the Carson Pirie Scott store) and the Chicago Board of Trade — all of them National Historic Landmarks.

Harboe’s work is ensuring that Chicago’s architectural heritage remains an active and vital part of our culture — and is around for future generations to appreciate.
