Like the cat with nine lives, the legendary Sherman House Hotel kept coming back. Two of its iterations are shown here: the Sherman House Hotel that replaced the one lost in the Great Fire; and the last Sherman House Hotel, demolished in 1973. The site now holds the James R. Thompson Center.
