Skip Haynes, who wrote the iconic song "Lake Shore Drive," has died.

Skip Haynes, who wrote the iconic 1971 song "Lake Shore Drive" for his band Aliotta Haynes and Jeremiah, has died at the age of 70. Haynes was the only surviving member of the group that originally recorded the song; John Jeremiah died in 2011 and Mitch Aliotta died in 2015. WBBM radio has reported that Hayne's widow wants to spread his ashes over the highway that he immortalized in music. In a 1993 segment of WTTW's Wild Chicago, Haynes, by then a resident of Los Angeles but back in Chicago for a visit, discussed the origin of the song.
