It's finally happening. After much speculation, rumors, and dead ends, it has finally been confirmed that a Downton Abbey movie is official. The original principal cast from the series, supposedly even Maggie Smith, who had seemed to be the only hold-out, will return.

The film will begin shooting in September, and will be produced by the show's production company, Carnival Films, and distributed by Focus Features and Universal Pictures International. The series creator Julian Fellowes, wrote the screenplay and will again produce, while the director of the series' pilot, Brian Percival, will direct.
