Out of Many, One

Sir Gilbert Levine leads the combined forces of the Lyric Opera Orchestra and the Chicago Symphony Chorus in a special, 2-hour concert celebrating the first anniversary of the beatification of Pope John Paul II.  Selections include Bach, Beethoven and other composers greatly admired by the Pontiff.  Taped at Orchestra Hall in Chicago, this moving concert was the result of a friendship that began in 1987 between Sir Gilbert and Archbishop Karol Wojtyla, before he became Pope John Paul II, and nearly two decades of artistic collaboration in a series of papal concerts Sir Gilbert created and conducted.
