Classic(al) Rock
For Rudolf Haken, the most important part of classical music isn't the "classical" part.
Considered by many to be one of the finest composers and violists of his generation, Haken prefers to focus on the music.
Which means he isn't afraid to mix Mozart and Metallica when playing on his custom made electric five-string viola.
Haken began playing at a very early age (like a modern Mozart, Haken conducted his first orchestra at 10) and is now helping
train the next generation of talent as a leading teacher and mentor for younger musicians.
A professor at the University of Illinois, Haken has traveled the world over giving a contemporary spin to orchestral music – and bringing a little irreverent rock into the concert halls of the United States and Europe.
So don't let the tuxedo fool you.
