Modern Troubadour

You'd probably feel right at home having a beer and a nice chat with Joni Laurence. But be careful of what you say and do, because she might make a song out of you.

Not "just another girl with a guitar," Joni Laurence delivers thoughtful folk/pop songs that flow from the pen of an artist who understands her native Illinois.

Laurence's music is grounded in the folk and country melodies of her youth. Laurence's parents formed a singing duet on the Quincy television variety show Possum Holler Opry , and this Midwestern influence gives her music a comfortable feel. But her tunes also have a modern sensibility that shows through in the witty lyrics and upbeat melodies.

In Trashbag Birdie, Laurence's third solo release, the mundane moments of life are given a new glory through the lyrics of this inventive musician.
