On a String

With their chamber music performances, the LeVeck Quartet strives to strike a personal note that will awaken modern passions for classical music.

The LeVeck String Quartet's members have gone from their hometowns of Mattoon, Charleston, and Champaign to circle the globe perfecting their skills, and in the process have earned a reputation for playing haunting melodies and enchanting tunes with precision and passion.

Organized in 1994 by Millikin University music professor and violinist Thomas LeVeck, the quartet hails as one of its missions the quest to find new audiences for classical music. To this end, the quartet chooses chamber music that creates a more intimate connection between them and the audience, as well as playing in some out-of-the-way towns and unconventional venues.
