Poetic Flow

When you think of literary festivals, you automatically conjure up the image of teenagers and twenty-somethings clamoring for the next act.

No? Then you've never seen the Musicality of Poetry festival hosted every few years by the Guild Complex.

A collection of spoken word and musical performances, the festival highlights the intersections of music and poetry. In 2001, the event featured performances by Jamaican dub poets Cherry Natural and Mutabaruka. Chicago hip hop artists All Natural joined them at the mic, lifting the audience off their seats and setting them dancing to the beats.
