WTTW11 invites you to meet people from throughout Illinois who will do just about anything to get young people excited about the arts. The Dunham Technique – Katherine Dunham studied, performed, and choreographed African-inspired dances. Up until her recent death she remained a trailblazer in the world of modern dance and civil rights. Considered the mother of black dance in America, she devoted herself to making the arts available to the children of East St. Louis.
