Preserving the Parks

Chicago's Park District includes over 7,600 acres of parkland, 570 parks, 518 playgrounds, 90 gardens, and 31 beaches. Preserving these precious resources is a complex, multi-faceted responsibility. Chicago Park District historian, Julia Bachrach, explains the various channels involved with protecting and maintaining the parks.
