Window to the World Communications Elects Four New Members to Its Board of Trustees

Window To The World Communications, Inc., parent company of WTTW11 and 98.7WFMT, announced that it recently elected four new members to its Board of Trustees. Kevin Newell, Katie Spring, Paul D. Steinberg and Robert A. Sullivan join the existing 54-member Board in addressing and meeting the challenges faced by the public broadcasting organization. Each was elected for a three-year term, to serve through June 2014.

“We are excited to welcome these uniquely qualified new Trustees to our Board. Each of them brings a wealth of experience and skill which will be great assets to our organization,” said Dan Schmidt, President and CEO.

  • Kevin Newell is Executive Vice President, Global Chief Brand Officer for McDonald’s Corporation, overseeing all aspects of global brand management, including Marketing, Menu Innovation, Consumer & Business Insights and brand strategy, as well as providing strategic input in the areas of Corporate Social Responsibility and Restaurant Architecture. He is a 21-year veteran of the company. Kevin’s community involvement includes former service on the boards of the Ronald McDonald House of Memphis, the Louis Carr Internship Foundation and History Makers of Tomorrow. Kevin also was a founding board member of the Ronald McDonald House at Loyola in Chicago. He is currently a member of the Executive Leadership Council.
  • Katie Spring is Managing Director and Head of Corporate Communications at Citadel, responsible for global external communications, brand management, executive communication and employee communications. Previously she was Vice President of Communications at USAA, managing director in financial communications at Hill & Knowlton, and a spokesperson for the Chicago Board of Trade. Katie was also a Congressional Fellow in the office of Senator Richard Lugar, and worked for PBS as an associate producer for the NewsHour with Jim Lehrer. A 2009 recipient of the Highest Leaf Award, and recognized by PRWeek magazine’s “40 Under 40,” she is a Trustee for The Institute for Public Relations and a member of PRSA Senior Leaders, as well as a member of Economic Club of Chicago and The Chicago Club.
  • Paul D. Steinberg is Chief Technology Officer for Motorola Solutions. Throughout his career he has focused on IP networking, high availability platforms, and application architectures. Paul serves on technical advisory boards for multiple companies that supply products and technologies into the networking industry. He is also a member of the Federal Communications Commission Technical Advisory Council and the Emergency Response Interoperability Center- Public Safety Advisory Committee. Paul is a member of Motorola Solutions' Science Advisory Board Associates, was recognized with the Motorola Dan Noble Fellow award in 2004 and named a Motorola Fellow in 2006. He also holds several U.S. patents.
  • Robert A. Sullivan is President and CEO of Fifth Third Bank (Chicago), which has more than $10 billion in assets. He is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of the bank’s four main businesses: Commercial Banking, Branch Banking, Consumer Lending and Investment Advisors. Bob is a member of The Economic Club, Executive’s Club, Financial Services Roundtable, and board of advisors for Catholic Charities. He also serves on the Board of Trustees of Xavier University and on the Advisory Council of the Mendoza College of Business at the University of Notre Dame, of which he is an alumnus.
