Chicago’s premier public television station WTTW announced that its popular Readers are Leaders Tour is on the road again for the sixth consecutive year! Below is the 2013 summer tour schedule:

Every WTTW Kids Readers are Leaders event comprises of movement, exciting dialogic reading, and interactive games designed specifically for children, parents, grandparents, caregivers, and educators to interact. These movements help create excitement about good health, good nutrition, and a higher level of knowledge about the body-mind connection! Following every performance, WTTW gives each child a bag comprised of special learning materials, special learning resources and links, gift certificates for complimentary fruits and vegetables from ALDI, AND a new book compliments of Chicago-based “Great Books.”
The WTTW Kids Readers are Leaders events feature the talented Miss Lori of Miss Lori’s CAMPUS and dialogic reading by WTTW’s tireless tour manager, Mr. Brandon.
WTTW conducts approximately 40 Readers are Leaders events per year, and travels throughout Chicagoland to serve families in our signal area. Many events take place in areas with limited educational resources, and are primarily conducted in those areas at Chicago Public Library branches. We often hear that the book given by WTTW Kids Readers are Leaders is the only new book that a child has ever received.
The WTTW Kids Readers are Leaders program has presented nearly 200 performances that have made a difference in the lives of thousands of children, parents, grandparents, caregivers, and educators throughout Chicagoland.
Funding for the WTTW Kids Readers are Leaders summer tour is provided by our presenting partner ALDI. Supporting funding is also provided by Citibank, Wisconsin Dells, Happy Family, Carl Buddig & Company, Carlson for Kids, Raging Waves, and a generous contribution by the Russell and Josephine Kott Memorial Charitable Trust.
