The powerful documentary film Jerzy Popieluszko: Messenger of the Truth, narrated by award-winning actor Martin Sheen, tells the story of Polish martyr and 21^st century hero of human rights, Father Jerzy Popieluszko – chaplin of the Solidarity movement.  His strong faith, conviction, and courage mobilized a nation to stand united against the Communist regime in Poland.  Jerzy Popieluszsko: Messenger of the Truth, which was awarded first place in the documentary category at the 28th International Catholic Film Festival in Warsaw, airs on WTTW on Monday, August 19 at 7:30 pm.

This exclusive screening is hosted by “Movie to Movement,” an organization that supports films that make a difference and promote cultural movements. Radio personality Sheila Liaugminas will serve as host, and Merek Popieluszko, Father Popieluszko’s nephew, will also be attendance with other dignitaries.
