Bowen Wrestling Coach Pays it Forward
When Ron Wilson came to Bowen High School as a special education teacher in 2000, there hadn’t been a wrestling program there for four years. Wilson had wrestled in high school and says his high school coach saved his life. So he offered to start a team. Within three years the Bowen Boilermakers won the city championship. That year, they went on to be the first Chicago Public School to win a state regional title. But just as importantly, the impact on the wrestlers themselves was profound.
