Help Your Kids Learn to Cook with the New Kitchen Classroom from 'America's Test Kitchen'

While more than one-third of the United States population is asked or ordered to stay home during the COVID-19 pandemic, one fun thing to do at home is cook. It's an enriching activity for families, too, so America's Test Kitchen has launched a new, free "Kitchen Classroom" to keep you and your children occupied and learning. 

"We know that you’re looking for activities to occupy your kids and help support their learning while they are out of school. (We are, too!)," they write. So they're drawing on their more than 150 kid-tested recipes on their kids' website—all of it currently free—to create a sort of curriculum for the week, consisting of easier recipes for the weekdays and more involved projects on the weekend, as well as food-related activities and quizzes. They're trying to focus one recipes that use ingredients you probably already have in your pantry, so you don't have to run to the store to pick too many things up. 

Not only will your kids and you share some bonding time while they learn to cook—and feed themselves—they will also learn about other areas too through the medium: science, reading comprehension, math, and other cultures.

So far, your kids can make French toast, learn how color affects flavor, and whip up some flatbreads—and that's only three days in!
