Held in the same chamber breached by a mob of Trump supporters during a surge of violence at the U.S. Capitol aimed at preventing the certification of the election on January 6, the second impeachment trial of Donald Trump in the Senate begins February 9. The House voted to impeach Trump a second time a week after the attack on the Capitol, arguing that Trump incited the attack, with ten Republicans joining Democrats in voting for impeachment.
