What to Watch in November

There's a huge amount of worthwhile TV out there nowadays, so it can be hard to choose what to watch. But who better to recommend shows than the person who programs them? Lisa Tipton, WTTW’s Head of Programming and Pledge, constructs the WTTW schedule by searching through offerings from many different sources which include the national PBS network, the BBC, and independent filmmakers to put together a varied and engaging broadcast schedule. Each month, she’ll recommend a few shows that she thinks you should watch.

Frontline: Putin's War at Home

This Frontline examines the stories of some of the activists and journalists who have resisted Putin, his war, and his crackdown at home.

American Experience: Taken Hostage
Monday and Tuesday, November 14 and 15, at 9:00 pm
In 1979, 52 Americans were taken hostage in Iran and held for 444 days before being released. This special two-part American Experience tells the story of the harrowing time through the eyes of those who lived it.
Mystery Finales
Right before the holiday season begins, we're wrapping up a whole set of mysteries. Sister Boniface Mysteries ends on Saturday, November 19 at 7:00 pm, while Sunday, November 20 hosts the season finales of Miss Scarlet and the Duke, Magpie Murders, and Annika, starting at 7:00 pm.
