Endeavour

The final, ninth season of Endeavour, which consists of three episodes, has an airdate. It will also be accompanied by a new mystery, and a special looking back on the show.

In the season finale of Endeavour, Morse becomes wrapped up in a murderous situation in a spooky old hotel when his bus breaks down and the passengers all take shelter from a winter storm there. 

The murder of a cab driver on the outskirts of town near a nudist retreat seems to be a robbery, but other deaths with odd similarities soon set the detectives searching for connections between them. 

Morse is assigned to guard a star soccer player who receives a death threat, while Thursday investigates a seemingly targeted bombing at Oxford. The Troubles of Northern Ireland might be involved in both cases.

After two more seasons of Endeavour, one premiering on PBS and WTTW in June and another currently in production, the series will end.

As more murders occur on the towpath and Morse looks into the odd spate of seemingly random accidents, Thursday and Morse fundamentally disagree, driving a wedge into their relationship. It's the season finale of Endeavour.

Cowley Station is being shut down, Thursday is retiring, and the escalation of a gangster turf battle seems like the end of an era in Oxford. But Morse is eager to solve one more case, as he goes undercover as a teacher at a mysterious, creepy prep school for boys.

Morse stumbles into the world of James Bond-esque Cold War espionage when a German is assassinated in Oxford. Poisonous fish, guns disguised as everday objects, tuxedos playboy chemical barons: it's all here. Meanwhile, Thursday investigates a case of domestic abuse.

The murder of a model on a military base causes Thursday's son to become a suspect, while the unusual past of the victim brings racism into play in the investigation of the murder. A war hero suffering from PTSD, a Nazi sympathizer, an anti-racism activist: the characters are colorful.
