AMERICAN EXPERIENCE presents an exclusive preview screening and discussion of the upcoming film The Boys of '36. Inspired by the best-selling book The Boys in the Boat, this film tells the thrilling story of the American Olympic rowing team that triumphed against all odds in Nazi Germany. Featuring interviews with author Daniel James Brown, historians, and surviving children of the 1936 team, The Boys of ’36 will air on WTTW11 on August 2 in conjunction with the Summer Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro and the 80th anniversary of the miracle crew’s triumph.

The one-hour screening will be followed by a panel discussion featuring filmmaker Margaret Grossi and rowing historian Eric Cohen. This is a free event.
