Stephen A. Foster House and Stable

Chicago’s West Pullman neighborhood on the South Side is home to the Frank Lloyd Wright-designed Stephen A. Foster House and Stable. It was built in 1900 as a summer home for Stephen A. Foster, a lawyer for a real estate developer that built many of the homes in the neighborhood. The design of the home is more in line with Wright’s work of the 1890s, per the Frank Lloyd Wright Trust, and differs from his prairie school homes. The Foster cottage features a sharp pitched roof and dormers that evoke Japanese influences. The home was sold to new owners in 2020 for $145,000 after several years on the market.
