Richard Loeb and Nathan Leopold were brilliant and wealthy University of Chicago graduate students. In 1924 they kidnapped and murdered 14-year-old Bobby Franks, for the thrill of committing a "perfect" crime.
It was quickly dubbed the "Crime of the Century" and provoked a media frenzy. In the sensational trial that followed, they were defended by the most famous lawyer in America, Clarence Darrow.
This episode of the award-winning Chicago Stories series tells
the story of a crime that is no less compelling today than when it first
captivated a horrified nation.
