A bedtime MUST was my big Sesame Street Storyland book. My favourite story was "Vegetable Soup," in which Bert and Ernie teach Cookie Monster what vegetables are and how to make soup with them. I loved that anthology long before I learned to read but I still knew when to turn the pages because I had heard it enough times to know it by heart.

That story is very likely the reason I still love vegetables so much today.

Also - shoutout to Rubber Duckie - one of the best songs of all time!

“Sesame Street” may get credit for my career in journalism. I became a reporter because I love learning. Where did that love of learning begin? Watching “Sesame Street” (on WTTW, Channel 11 of course). I remember being glued to the TV, holding my *talking* Big Bird, singing and learning the alphabet along with my baby brother and the Sesame Street gang.

All these years later, my heart still bleeds thinking about poor Big Bird getting separated from Snuffaluffagus and the rest of his besties in “Follow that Bird.” That movie taught important lessons: That it’s beautiful to have friends in all shapes, sizes and colors, and that true friends are family.

As a kid who loved going to school, the only good thing about staying home sick was getting to watch Sesame Street. I’m still a fan of my furry pal Grover and the Martians (who I called the Yip Yips). I also really loved the human residents of Sesame Street, including Bob McGrath as Bob, Roscoe Orman as Gordon, Loretta Long as Susan, Sonia Manzano as Maria, and Emilio Delgado as Luis.

My favorite memory of Sesame Street is the segment where the show dealt with Mr. Hooper's death when the actor playing him died: video.

My favorite memory of Sesame Street is the Sesame Street theme song from the late 1990s until around 2001!

Between Sesame Street and the Electric Company, my kids could read before they were in kindergarten. And they were mesmerized by it.

I grew up watching Sesame Street and it's always important to be kind. My heart melted when Rosita, Zoe, and Grover decided to throw a party for Norbert to show how much they really care for him. I also enjoy looking at this poster because it always keeps me happy whenever I'm stressed.

Ernie will always have a special place in my heart! My older brother and I used to watch Sesame Street while he clutched his Ernie doll. The doll still sits in a closet in our childhood house!

Chelsea

My favorite sesame street memory is Katie Couric and the the 3 little pigs and the big bad wolf.

Another memory is Taylor Swift on sesame street.

I always liked Bert and Ernie. Cookie Monster too.

Lalalalalightbulb. Lalalalinoleum. Ala the great Bert. I was 4 years old. I had a speech impediment and couldn't say "L". My speech therapist sang this song with me.

Sesame Street is my favorite show when I was a kid. My favorite Sesame Street memory is when Herry Monster sing a song about his family and show us that he got his mother, father, and his grandmother looks. Happy 50 anniversary Sesame Street and keep on being kind.

My favorite memory of Sesame Street was learning about outer space, and getting to know all of the characters. My favorite character is, Cookie Monster because he and I both like cookies. I liked when Oscar the Grouch can read comic strips and has a friend named Slimy. Happy Birthday Sesame Street!

As a toddler I’d once tried to make my favorite monster toy (Grover) a member of a group I belonged to. My mom was nice enough to say he has a place to belong - in MY arms (close to my heart) and on Sesame Street!

Corey

Atlanta

My favorite Sesame Street memory is my favorite character Telly Monster as I thought he was funny, cute and cuddly.
