Chicago, IL - May 12, 2015

WTTW, the Midwest’s premier public television station, announces that its award-winning nightly newsmagazine Chicago Tonight will welcome Mayor Rahm Emanuel for a series of in-depth conversations, to occur every 4-6 weeks. Dates and interviewers will vary, and topics to be covered will be determined on a timely basis.

Chicago Tonight’s political reporter Paris Schutz will conduct the first interview on Wednesday, May 13 at 7:00 pm on WTTW11, and on wttw.com. In this first installment in the series, Schutz will ask the Mayor about last week’s Illinois Supreme Court ruling on pension reform, and also get the latest on the Obama Presidential Library coming to Chicago.

“Our interviews with Mayor Emanuel will be of sufficient length to get beyond sound bites, to help our audiences better understand the difficult issues facing our city,” said Mary Field, Executive Producer of Chicago Tonight. “We think this is an important service we can offer our viewers, particularly in a critical time when the Mayor is being forced to make some painful choices that will affect the lives of many citizens,” she added.

Audiences can find daily content on the political scene in the Chicago area on Chicago Tonight’s Politics website.
