Chicago, IL - March 1, 2017
WTTW, one of the country’s premier public media organizations, is happy to announce the WTTW Kids BIG IDEA tour! Starting this spring, we will travel to many new places to educate and entertain children with the power of Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Math.
The WTTW Kids BIG IDEA tour brings the BIG IDEA Traveling Lab to communities throughout Chicagoland to present exciting 45-minute FREE live shows, perfect for children 2 to 7 years old, that bring to life fun and learning from the most popular and beloved children’s television programs on WTTW Kids. Our host, a WTTW Kids Lab Guy, will inspire children to discover their own BIG IDEAS using our very own recipe of Wonder, Watch, and Learn More! We’ll chat with the Lab Guys back at the WTTW Kids BIG IDEA Lab and explore themes such as emotions, life cycles, recycling, the natural world, and more as we discover everyday BIG IDEAS. We’ll also learn about great children’s books that support the show themes, and experience a few fun surprises along the way. Most shows will include a character meet & greet immediately following the performance. Starting in mid-March, a schedule of upcoming show dates and locations will be posted at wttw.com/bigidea.
What’s the BIG IDEA?
A BIG IDEA is a solution to a problem, an answer to a question, or something that has opened your mind to a new understanding. When you’re a kid, the world is full of new things to learn. BIG IDEAs help us to solve every day conundrums, big and small.
What’s the recipe for a BIG IDEA?
- WONDER: Identify a question in your mind. or a curiosity to learn more.
- WATCH: Observe how something is done or how it works. Absorb information and consider the possibilities.
- LEARN MORE: Read a book, watch a video, visit a library or a zoo, or talk with someone who might have more information to share.
Then, voila! You have a BIG IDEA!
Funding for the WTTW Kids BIG IDEA tour is provided by our presenting partner ALDI. Additional support is provided by Eye Level Learning Centers, Carlson For Kids Nutritional Supplements, and Happy Family.
