Chicago, IL - August 7, 2017
Beginning tonight, WTTW’s nightly newsmagazine CHICAGO TONIGHT will stream live, Monday through Thursday evenings at 7:00 pm CT, on WTTW’s Facebook page.
CHICAGO TONIGHT covers the stories of the day in politics, education, arts and culture, business, and science and technology. Recent segments have focused on the soaring Dow Jones Industrial Average and what it could mean for investors, Gov. Rauner's veto of an education budget overhaul for Illinois public schools, whether Mayor Emanuel will reappoint the current president of the Chicago Police Board, and the controversial Cook County beverage tax. CHICAGO TONIGHT’s digital platform wttw.com/chicagtonight features original content, including recent stories on the lasting impact on social service agencies from the state's two-year budget impasse, whether the prestige of hosting the annual Lollapalooza festival is worth the cost and congestion, toxic manganese dust and its potential effect on the city's industrialized Southeast side, and a lawsuit filed by Illinois and other states against EPA chief Scott Pruitt for delaying the implementation of new air pollution standards.
“We are excited to make this award-winning flagship series available every night on Facebook where Chicago news and politics are discussed in real time,” said Anne Gleason, Senior Vice President of Marketing and Digital Media.
“We strive to bring our diverse audience up-to-the-minute and in-depth coverage of stories that affect their everyday lives,” said Executive Producer Mary Field. “We are very pleased that they will now be able to access the live show wherever they are.”
CHICAGO TONIGHT will continue to be available via broadcast on WTTW11 and WTTW Prime, on wttw.com/chicagotonight, as a podcast, and via the PBS/WTTW video app.
