S'mores Bars

S'mores makings by a campfire

These bars are the perfect dessert eaten after a summer BBQ and taste best when served still warm. My brother's girlfriend (now wife) gave me this recipe when my oldest, Alex, was just 1 year old, and he's 24 now! At the end of the recipe (step 5), she wrote, "Kiss Alex."

Ingredients

1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
3/4 cup sugar
1 egg
1 tsp vanilla extract
1 1/3 cup flour
3/4 cup graham cracker crumbs
1 tsp baking powder
1/4 tsp salt
4 Hershey's Milk Chocolate bars
1 cup marshmallow creme

Directions

1. Heat oven to 350 and grease an 8" baking pan. Beat together the butter and sugar; add the egg and vanilla and beat.

2. In a separate bowl, combine the flour, graham cracker crumbs, baking powder, and salt. Add to the butter mixture and beat.

3. Press half of the dough into the pan. Lay the chocolate bars on top. They might need to be broken into the rectangles to fit the pan. Spread the marshmallow creme on top of the chocolate. Spread the last half of the dough on top of the marshmallow creme.

4. Bake 30-35 minutes. Serve warm or at room temperature.
