Around the World in 80 Days

Phileas Fogg's rush to circumnavigate the globe in 80 days is coming down to the wire. But his past looms large when he reaches New York. And that's not even the only obstacle that remains, in the season finale. 

As Phileas Fogg and his companions cross America's West, they reluctantly help a U.S. Marshal as he escorts a prisoner, and eventually end up in the middle of an old Western shoot-out in a saloon.

Fogg and his companions end up marooned. Some revelations turn Fogg against Passepartout, but the Frenchman is determined to save his friendship. Fix begins to realize the nature of her own relationship with Passepartout.

Fogg can't access his money when he arrives in Hong Kong, stalling his progress. Passepartout and he both set out to secure money in very different ways, while Fix worries about the publication of her latest newspaper story. 

Phileas Fogg and his companions find themselves in an Indian village during a wedding and are asked to step in when a dispute with the British army disrupts the festivities.

Around the World in 80 Days may be a work of fiction, but its characters move through a historical world filled with real people, technology, and places. Here are a few things based on true history in the first four episodes of the show.

Another delay leads Phileas Fogg to take a desperate and dangerous path to his next destination. Fix proves exceedingly useful in the desert while also learning about her father's past from an unexpected companion.

David Tennant, a former host of Masterpiece, is returning to star as the adventurer Phileas Fogg in a new version of Jules Verne's classic Around the World in Eighty Days.
