Marie Antoinette

As Louis supports the American Revolution and prepares to go to war with Great Britain, Antoinette finds herself enamored by a dashing noble and is abetted in her tryst by Yolande. 

Provence worries that his position at court is slipping away when Marie Antoinette becomes pregnant. But a defamatory pamphlet throws doubt on the father of the child, and Louis orders a thorough investigation.

Marie Antoinette's brother Joseph, the Habsburg emperor, comes to France to help salvage Antoinette's marriage—and thus herself, and the diplomatic advantages which the marriage confers. 

Now that her husband is king, Marie Antoinette is asserting herself at court with her own villa, a ball, and a preferred candidate for prime minister. But she still faces plenty of opposition.

Louis-Auguste and Marie Antoinette are to make their first official trip to Paris, but an outbreak of illness in the king threatens plans, and has the young couple faced with prospect of becoming king and queen. 

The king begins to take an interest in Marie Antoinette and hates being caught in the middle of her rivalry with Madame du Barry, as Provence searches for his own wife.

Marie Antoinette is beginning to be enmeshed in the rivalries of Versailles, including that between the wily Madame du Barry, who has the king's ear, and most of the rest of Versailles. 

The fourteen-year-old Marie Antoinette is sent away from home to marry an equally young heir to the French throne in order to cement an alliance between the Habsburg Empire and France. It is her duty to produce an heir.
