If you're like many people across America, there's a good chance you devoted a lot of time to cooking at home and learning some new recipes over the past year and a half. Now, PBS is highlighting the dishes of talented home cooks with a new series called The Great American Recipe, premiering in summer of 2022.

The eight-part series will allow home cooks from around the country to spotlight their signature recipes, whether they are family favorites handed down over generations or new mash-ups of America's diverse culinary influences. They will compete to have their dish named "The Great American Recipe" and appear on the cover of the companion volume The Great American Cookbook, which will feature recipes from all the contestants as well as the host and judges.

Who are those judges? One hails from Chicago: the wildly creative Graham Elliot, who has been part of Chicago's culinary vanguard with various restaurants over the years, as well as appearing on numerous TV shows. He's joined by Tiffany Derry, a Texas-based chef, television personality, and advocate; and Leah Cohen, a Filipino and Romanian-Jewish chef and owner of Pig & Khao restaurant in New York City, which serves Southeast Asian cuisine. The TODAY show contributor, chef, and food writer Alejandra Ramos will host.

The Great American Recipe will showcase the personal stories and recipe inspirations of its chefs, who will compete to become finalists who prepare an entire meal for the judges to determine the winner.
