After months of rumors, we finally have confirmation that Downton Abbey is indeed returning for a third movie – with some new cast members. Paul Giamatti is reprising his role from the TV series as Harold Levinson, Cora Crawley's brother. Joely Richardson, Alessandro Nivola, Simon Russell Beale, and Arty Froushan are joining the cast, although we don't yet know their roles.

The film will retain many of the series' favorite characters, with the notable exception of the Dowager Countess Violet Crawley (Maggie Smith), who died in the last film. Dominic West, who appeared in the previous film as Guy Dexter, will also return.

The series creator Julian Fellowes will again write the script, and the previous film's Simon Curtis will again direct.
