PBS Programs Nominated for a 2019 Academy Award

The nominations for the 2019 Academy Awards were announced today, and, once again, two of the five nominees for the Documentary category will air on PBS. WTTW broadcasts Hale County This Morning, This Evening, which offers intimate portraits of life in America's Black Belt, as part of Independent Lens on Monday, February 11 at 10:00 pm and is available to streamMinding the Gap, about three young skateboarding enthusiasts growing up in Rockford and confronting the challenges of adulthood and violence, airs on Monday, February 18 at 9:00 pm as part of POV and is available to stream. It was produced by Chicago's Kartemquin Films, which also saw an Oscar nomination last year for their Abacus documentary. This year's winners will be announced on Sunday, February 24.
