Season 4 of All Creatures Great and Small will be missing one major character, although new ones will be appearing, too. World War II has dawned and Tristan has left the Yorkshire Dales to serve in the military, but he will be replaced by new hands at Skeldale House. Neve McIntosh, whom you might recognize from Shetland, is the new bookkeeper, Miss Harbottle. James Anthony-Rose, who has appeared in Slow Horses, is Richard Carmody, an undergraduate veterinary student under the guidance of James Herriott.

James, his new wife Helen, his employer Siegfried, Mrs. Hall, Mrs. Pumphrey, Helen's sister and father, and Gerald will all return, among with various other ensemble members.

Downton Abbey's Mr. Mason, Paul Copley, will appear as Ned Clough, while Sanditon's Rowleigh Pryce, James Bolam, plays Mr. Dakin. Coronation Street's Sam Retford will also appear.

Season four is currently filming in Yorkshire.

WTTW will air a special looking back at season three of All Creatures Great and Small on August 13 at 7:00 pm.
