John F. Kennedy would have turned 100 today. 34 years ago, in 1983, WTTW's John Callaway hosted a discussion on the legacy of the 35th president of the United States, on the twentieth anniversary of his assassination. Former FCC chairman Newton Minow, University of Chicago history professor Barry Karl, and Thomas Roeser of the City Club of Chicago weigh in on his three-year term: his "extremely cautious" presidency, his struggles with Democrats who perceived him as simply a monied politician, the "great pass" historians have given JFK, and the disappearance of "honorable" politicians after him.
